Spitz & Pollack's New Standard & Movable Dictionary
of the American Language, Abridged Edition, ©2005.
In the last four years, Amee Pollack has collaborated with writer and artist, Laurie Spitz, creating handmade social commentary. Laurie Spitz, a graduate of University of California at Berkeley and the former Executive Story Editor at 20th Century Fox, has had her art exhibited primarily in Canada, Pennsylvania and New York. She has lectured in South Africa and throughout the United States.
Spitz & Pollack have two new artists' books as follow-ups to The Dictionary.
(1) Deluxe edition of Professor Pinkerton's Pop-Up Library, ©2009.
Tie back the pages of this three- room (Antiquity, early Medieval, Victorian) carousel book, where printed and hand-painted pop-ups, pamphlets, and movables reveal certain surprising - and hitherto neglected - legacies from the record of mankind. The three-dimensional work sprung from Civilized Digs ©2006 pictured in the "altered book and constructions portfolio".
